Use & care guide.
How to clean, maintain and care for your Solid Surface vanity top. Whether it’s Corian®, Staron® or Meganite®, proper care keeps it hygienic and flawless for years.
Solid Surface is non-porous, renewable and built for easy everyday care. A damp cloth and mild soap handle daily cleaning — and even scratches can usually be sanded out rather than replaced.
Caring for your vanity top.
Daily cleaning
Wipe with a damp microfibre cloth and a mild household cleaner or soap. This lifts everyday residue — soap, toothpaste, cosmetics and water marks. Drying afterwards prevents spots and keeps the finish fresh.
- Mild liquid soap
- Non-abrasive household cleaners
- Soft cloths or sponges
- Ammonia-based window cleaners
- Wax or silicone cleaners that leave a film
Stain removal
Because the surface is non-porous, most stains stay on top and wipe away. For coffee, cosmetics or limescale, use a mild abrasive cleaner or a baking-soda-and-water paste, applied gently with a soft sponge in circular motions, then rinse.
Even stubborn marks usually lift without damage — the surface is renewable and can be refreshed.
What to avoid
Solid Surface is durable, but a few things shorten its life:
- Paint strippers, drain cleaners, strong solvents
- Steel wool or aggressive scouring pads
- Direct heat — hot pots, straighteners, appliances
- Rinse accidental chemical spills with soapy water
- Always use heat protection
Long-term maintenance
With simple care, Solid Surface keeps its look for decades. Light wear can be refreshed by polishing with a fine abrasive pad. In hard-water areas, occasional descaling prevents mineral build-up — no sealing or special treatments needed.
Repairs & professional care
Minor scratches and surface wear can often be repaired at home with mild abrasive pads and water — one of the few materials you renew instead of replace. For deeper damage or large surfaces, a specialist can refinish it without replacing the whole top.
