Quality Standards
At KORTE.design, quality is our highest priority. We believe that true craftsmanship speaks for itself — and that a satisfied customer is the strongest advocate, sharing their experience with friends, family, and beyond.
1. Purpose of the document
The purpose of this document is to provide guidelines for the quality requirements of bathroom sinks, other products, their components and packaging.
2. Technical parameters of materials and compliance with standards
The sinks / products are made of a durable and recyclable acrylic-based composite material, made from acrylic polymer and natural minerals (Alumina Trihydrate).
Sinks / products that are made of Corian or other solid surface materials comply with the following standards and regulations:
- Standard EN 14688 – CE marking requirements,
- Standard EN 31+A1 – Requirements for the fixing dimensions of wall-mounted sinks, requirements for tap holes and drainage connection opening dimensions.;
- Standard EN 274-1 – size, performance, material and marking requirements for sewer connection and overflow openings;
- Depending on the customer’s needs, the sink (as a separate component) can be placed on the worktop, on to the furniture, or built into the worktop with virtually no visible seams, as well as attached to the wall with metal brackets. The corrosion resistance of metal brackets is 5 years (corrosion resistance category C3-C4 according to ISO 12944-2), if the brackets are installed precisely, i.e. without damaging their protective coating.
3. Quality control
The inspection must be carried out according to the method and conditions indicated in the table below (see table).
Inspection resources | – Visual inspection- Touching to detect surface irregularities or scratches, etc.- Calibrated gauges |
Inspection positions | Upright, with a distance from the eyes to the surface around 60 cm. |
Brightness | According to operating conditions, all lighting appliance are switched on, but not exceed 700 mm at surface height |
The designated viewing areas for sinks / products are listed in the table below. These viewing areas correspond to the critical viewing level of the end user of the sink / product and determine the level of acceptability of defects.
Visible area | Defined as follows: – Continuously visible area or – An area that is alternately obscured by movable objects such as cupboard doors, etc. |
Hidden areas or hard-to-reach areas | Defined as an area that is not visible to the user of the sink at all times because it is covered by the front panel of the sink / product, the side walls of the room, furniture, installed supports, etc. |
Note! Zones are indicated in the example drawing below!
CRITERIA | ZONE | ACCEPTABLE DEVIATION | MEANS OF MEASUREMENT |
---|---|---|---|
Impact marks, cracks, damage from transportation | Publicly visible area | None | Visually |
Manufacturing defects notches | Not visible 60 cm from the surface | ||
Scratches | Not visible 60 cm from the surface | ||
Surface deformations such as dents, airwaves, bubbles, stains, cavities | Not visible 60 cm from the surface, not felt by touch | Visually + by touch | |
Level of gloss | Satin sheen.Uniform | Visually | |
Impact marks, surface cracks, transport damage | Hidden areas or hard-to-reach areas | Surface defects that are not visible after installation (on the wall, under the brackets under the surface, etc.) are acceptable. | Visually |
Surfaces (such as mounting holes, drains, ripples, orange peel, pits, holes, scratches, stains, pinholes, impact marks, transport damage) | Surface defects that are not visible after installation (on the wall, under the brackets under the surface, etc.) are acceptable. | Visually | |
Sharp edge | All zones | The product must not cause injury to the user. | Visually + by touch |
The color of the sink / product must correspond to the color of Dupont Corian, Meganite, Staron, or if it is a material of another manufacturer, then to the manufacturer’s standard color.
4. Dimensions and tolerances
The dimensions of the sink / product with tolerances are specified in the drawing approved by the customer. If the tolerances are not specified in the drawings, the standard tolerances corresponding to ISO 2786 Class C and Class L should be used
Due to the peculiarities of the production technology, the following tolerances may appear, which are not considered manufacturing defects:
Length tolerance:
- for sinks / products up to +/- 2 mm
- For worktop between walls (regardless of worktop / product length) +0/- 2,5 mm
- For sinks / products placed on furniture +2,5/-0 mm
- For sinks mounted on the wall and on the furniture (regardless of the length of the sink) +2,5/- 0 mm
Surface curvature:
- Sinks till 1000 mm …. +/-2 mm
- Sinks till 3000 mm …. +/-3 mm
Faucet, soap dispenser, overflow, etc. opening diameter +/-1 mm.
